The Israeli Army declared an area around the Gaza Strip a military closed zone on Sunday to prevent a planned march by ministers, members of parliament, and supporters of the right-wing camp into the Palestinian territory.

Background of the March

The Army announced that the entire border strip around the Gaza Strip is now a military exclusion zone. This is intended to prevent the "March of the Thousands," announced for Sunday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. local time (4:00 p.m. CEST). According to the Israeli broadcaster Channel 12, those registered for the march included far-right and right-wing ministers as well as their supporters. The Army cited security considerations as the reason for the measure.
