A Lufthansa aircraft nosedived at Frankfurt Airport on Thursday at Terminal 1 after its front landing gear collapsed. Images and videos circulating on social media showed the Dreamliner lying on the tarmac in close proximity to a gate.

Airport operator Fraport confirmed an "incident" involving a Lufthansa aircraft. The airline stated that a crisis team had been established and announced a further statement. "A crisis team has been established," the company said.

The aircraft involved is a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner named "Herne." According to the company, the aircraft has only been in regular service since mid-January 2026. At the time of the incident, there were no passengers on board.
