The mechanical engineering association VDMA has warned of possible bottlenecks in gas supply in the coming winter and urged faster government preparations.
With regard to winter preparations, the association expressed concern about low gas storage levels and, in its view, an unclear supply situation. VDMA Chief Executive Thilo Brodtmann said industry needed planning certainty and clear signals from Berlin on how to respond to a possible worsening of the situation.
The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs rejected the criticism and pointed to ongoing preparations. The government was preparing the necessary response options so that they could be deployed quickly and in a targeted manner should the situation worsen, the ministry said.
