Following a severe double earthquake west of the capital Caracas, more than 1,400 people have died in Venezuela, as transitional president Delcy Rodríguez reported.
Double Quake Shakes the Coastal State
The double quake occurred on Wednesday just 39 seconds apart west of Caracas and caused devastating destruction, particularly in the coastal state of La Guaira. According to transitional president Delcy Rodríguez, more than 380 residential buildings and 13 hospitals were destroyed or severely damaged. Numerous buildings collapsed or were badly damaged, with entire city blocks of high-rises in some cases razed to the ground.
