Six days after the devastating double earthquake in Venezuela, a Jordanian rescue team pulled a three-year-old boy alive from the rubble of a collapsed building in the capital Caracas, while the official death toll continues to climb.

Rescue After Days-Long Search

The boy's rescue came after nearly a week under the rubble — a timeframe that far exceeds the usual window of survival. According to Jordan's civil defense, the child received first aid on site and was taken to a hospital. "Der Bub habe vor Ort Erste Hilfe erhalten und sei in ein Krankenhaus gebracht worden," the Jordanian civil defense said. The recovery was announced on platform X. Experts stress that the first 72 hours after a natural disaster are considered the critical phase for finding survivors; a rescue after six days is considered extraordinary. Hopes of finding more buried people alive are fading by the hour, according to authorities.
