New orders in German industry rose again more strongly in June than economists had expected, supported above all by robust orders in mechanical engineering as well as in data processing equipment, electronic and optical products.
New orders in German industry rose again more sharply in June than economists had forecast. As the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden announced, several key sectors recorded significant gains. The increase marks a continuation of the positive trend of recent months and signals a sustained revival of industrial activity.
Mechanical engineering and electronics drive orders
The strongest boost in June came from mechanical engineering, with an increase of 12.7 percent compared to the previous month, according to the statisticians. Manufacturers of data processing equipment, electronic and optical products also recorded a notable increase of 22.7 percent. These two areas are traditionally among the most important indicators of companies' willingness to invest in the country.
