New orders in the manufacturing sector in Germany rose by 3.1 percent in June 2026 compared to the previous month, according to the Federal Statistical Office. The increase follows an almost stagnant May and signals a revival of the industrial economy.

Revision of the Previous Month

As the Federal Statistical Office further announced, the May figure was revised significantly downward. "der Anstieg im Mai wurde jedoch um 1,6 Prozentpunkte auf 0,3 Prozent nach unten revidiert", the publication of the Wiesbaden-based authority stated.

Despite the revision in May, the June increase was stronger than many economists had expected. Industry observers interpret the development as a possible indication that the order books of German industry are filling up again after a longer phase of weakness.
