London, 01 July 2026

In the first half of 2026, around 11,884 migrants reached Britain via the English Channel, 41 percent fewer than in the same period the previous year, according to the British Home Office.

As the Home Office in London announced on Wednesday, 11,884 people reached the United Kingdom via the sea arm of the Atlantic between January and June of this year. In the first half of 2025, there had been 19,982 arrivals, according to the figures. This corresponds to a decline of around 41 percent.

The number of migrants coming to Britain via this route has repeatedly risen in recent years and has strongly shaped the political debate in the country. Now the government under Prime Minister Keir Starmer is recording a significant decline in Channel crossings.
