The Left state chairman Luigi Pantisano has not ruled out tolerating or electing a CDU Minister-President in Saxony-Anhalt with votes from his party, while at the same time attaching conditions to such a course of action.

In Saxony-Anhalt, a possible shift in perspective is emerging according to the words of Left state chairman Luigi Pantisano. Pantisano stated that the election of a CDU Minister-President with votes from the Left was "nicht ausgeschlossen" if the party could no longer organize its own majorities. This marks a departure by the Left in Magdeburg from what had previously been a categorical distancing from the CDU and simultaneously signals a willingness to speak with the largest opposition party on issues relevant to stability.
