A paraglider pilot crashed to the ground on Saturday morning in Fulpmes in the front Stubai Valley and sustained serious injuries in the process.

Operation in the Stubai Valley

According to initial findings by the Tyrolean police, the crash occurred on Saturday morning in the municipal area of Fulpmes in the front Stubai Valley. The paraglider pilot fell to the ground from an as-yet unknown height and remained lying there with serious injuries.

Bystanders and emergency personnel provided first aid. The pilot received emergency medical care at the accident site before being airlifted by rescue helicopter to the Innsbruck University Hospital. The hospital confirmed the admission of the seriously injured patient.

The Tyrolean police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident. According to the current state of affairs, it is being examined which circumstances – such as weather conditions, technical defects on the canopy, or pilot error – may have led to the crash.
