The flying weather conditions in the Stubai Valley are considered demanding in summer: thermal updrafts, shifting wind directions, and local turbulence are common in alpine terrain. The responsible authorities are currently evaluating whether external factors played a role.

Fulpmes and the front Stubai Valley are a well-known launch area for paragliders. Under favorable conditions, pilots regularly take off there for valley and cross-country flights. On Saturday morning, according to police, multiple rescue teams were operating in parallel.

Admission to Innsbruck University Hospital

Rescue services, police, and an emergency medical helicopter were deployed. Regarding the pilot's state of health, the Innsbruck University Hospital initially made no statements on Saturday beyond the serious injury.
