A 28-year-old woman from the Schwalm-Eder district in Hesse was killed in a paragliding accident on Friday in the Stubaital valley in Tyrol.
According to the Austrian police announced on Saturday, the 28-year-old had already crashed into a forest on Friday in the area of the Elferspitze near Neustift im Stubaital. The accident occurred in the morning, when the woman was out with her paraglider over the Stubaital.
A man who was walking in the forest later spotted the woman hanging lifelessly in a treetop at a height of around 40 meters and alerted the emergency services. As a police spokeswoman confirmed to the German Press Agency, the woman was hanging lifeless in the treetop. Rescue teams were then dispatched into the difficult-to-access forest area.
