St. Leonhard im Pitztal, July 1, 2026
The Pitztal Road (L16) in Tyrol was partially and briefly reopened for outbound travel from the valley on Wednesday after several mudslides.
According to the crisis management team, the situation in the rear Pitztal remained serious following the mudslides of recent days. On Wednesday, therefore, two narrow time windows were established for outbound traffic: outbound travel from 9:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 12:15 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The closure of the Pitztal Road had affected around 1,000 residents from various districts of St. Leonhard im Pitztal since Tuesday. As a result, the rear section of the valley, where several small settlements are located, was only accessible to a limited extent for a time.
