The former UEFA President Michel Platini has filed a criminal complaint in France against FIFA President Gianni Infantino and five other former Swiss judicial and football officials. According to this, Platini accuses the defendants of, among other things, false accusations and undue influence.
The former UEFA President Michel Platini has filed a criminal complaint in France against FIFA President Gianni Infantino and five other former Swiss judicial and football officials.
According to the news agency AP, the complaint was announced by a spokesperson for Platini shortly before the start of the FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. A total of six defendants are named: Infantino as well as five other former officeholders from the Swiss judiciary and football.
According to his lawyers, Platini accuses the defendants of, among other things, false accusations and undue influence. He sees in this an attempt to prevent his candidacy as FIFA President more than ten years ago. The 70-year-old speaks of a conspiracy.
