According to the Miami Herald, GAESA's annual revenue in 2023 exceeded Cuba's national budget by more than threefold — a figure that Raúl Castro disputed in his USA Today interview.

According to findings by US media, Rodríguez Castro has built a network reaching high-ranking political decision-makers around the White House, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The Cuban government says it is already conducting negotiations with the USA on several disputes, including the issue of political prisoners. The Communist Party of Cuba has been in power since the revolution under Fidel Castro in 1959.

Rodríguez Castro reaffirmed in the interviews that resolving the crisis was his priority.
