Romanian President Nicușor Dan tasked MEP Eugen Tomac with forming a new government on Thursday afternoon.
According to sources in Bucharest, Tomac is 44 years old, a Member of the European Parliament for the liberal Renew Europe group, and a trained historian. President Dan appointed him honorary advisor for diaspora affairs before entrusting him with the mandate to form a government.
The designated Prime Minister must present his cabinet and government program within ten days and face a vote of confidence in parliament. Tomac announced his intention to form a technocratic government team.
