Bern, 26 August 2026

The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) announced on Wednesday a successful first half of 2026, with a rising number of passengers, high punctuality and an improved financial result.

The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) look back on a positive first half of 2026. As SBB officials communicated on Wednesday, the number of passengers rose, while at the same time the company achieved high punctuality and an improved financial result. The state-owned company thus sees its strategic orientation confirmed.

The first half of 2026 is therefore significantly better than the preceding period, during which SBB had been confronted with declining passenger numbers and economic pressure. In the past, SBB had struggled, among other things, with falling customer numbers in freight transport, for example at SBB Cargo AG and SBB Cargo International.
