Grünheide, 15 July 2026

The Brandenburg State Environmental Office documented six operational disruptions last year at the US electric carmaker Tesla's plant in Grünheide near Berlin - in none of the cases did it result in any impact on the environment.

Six disruptions in one year

As the State Environmental Office told the German Press Agency, a total of six incidents were recorded at the plant in 2025. The "Tagesspiegel" had previously reported on this. According to the report, these included an oil spill on a paved outdoor surface on 6 January, a wheel loader fire on 6 February, a suffocating fire caused by flying sparks during body construction on 24 March, an oil spill on a construction road on 28 February, as well as - according to more recent reports - two further events such as a thermal reaction of a battery cell on 14 January and an adhesive leak from a system on 16 January.
