Grünheide, 14 July 2026

A new monitoring report on the groundwater beneath the Tesla gigafactory in Grünheide records eight operational incidents over approximately a year and a half, but according to the company and the expert consultants, concludes that no sustainable limit or threshold values were exceeded.

Eight Incidents, No Threshold Exceedances

The "Monitoring Report on the Protected Resource Groundwater 2025," made public on Tuesday, was prepared by the geotechnical services provider Fugro on behalf of Tesla Manufacturing Brandenburg SE. It was available to the "Tagesspiegel" and the German Press Agency (dpa). It states that in 2025 "zu keinen detektierbaren Zutritten von Schadstoffen in das Grundwasser" [no detectable ingress of pollutants into the groundwater occurred]. In the previous year as well, there had been no incidents relevant under water law that "die Beeinträchtigungen nach sich ziehen" [would entail impairments].
