Swedish defense company Saab has signed a contract for the delivery of 16 Gripen E fighter jets to Ukraine, as the company confirmed on Tuesday.

Contract worth 2.2 billion euros

The contract is worth approximately 2.2 billion euros. According to Saab, deliveries are not planned until 2029 and 2030. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, however, spoke of initial aircraft in 2027. Zelensky announced the agreement on Tuesday: "according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, also includes technical support."

On June 30, 2026, Russia continued its attacks on Ukraine. In Zaporizhzhia, at least two civilians were killed and 15 others injured in glide bomb strikes, according to Ukrainian authorities. A kindergarten was also severely damaged. President Volodymyr Zelensky also stated that Ukrainian forces had again attacked a satellite communication facility near Moscow.
