Fiber Cooperation in Eastern Germany

The agreements, revealed on 27 May 2026, will allow Telekom to market its own fiber tariffs over networks built by the two companies, covering around 220,000 households across approximately 400 municipalities in Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Christian Pegel, interior and construction minister of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, called the deal "an important signal for the joint path in expanding high-performance fiber-optic networks and for the digital future of our country."

Sven Knapp, a member of the management board at the Federal Association for Broadband Communication, described the move as a "good signal for the people in Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern." He added, "When Telekom, as the largest internet provider, uses the fiber-optic networks of its competitors, everyone benefits: customers get more provider and tariff choices."
