A Cessna 402 operated by the local airline Flamingo Air crashed in the Bahamas on Friday, killing ten people, including the pilot and at least nine other occupants.

According to the Bahamian Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority (AAIA), the aircraft was traveling from the international airport in the capital, Nassau, toward San Andros Airport when the accident occurred on Friday. The AAIA said in a statement that the plane ran into difficulties and crashed into a thicket prior to landing.

The accident occurred in the northern part of Andros, the largest island group of the Caribbean nation. The Cessna 402 belongs to the fleet of the regional airline Flamingo Air, which specializes in domestic connections between the islands. Flamingo Air said it was working with the relevant authorities to clarify the circumstances of the crash.
