Münster, July 23, 2026

The tenth Castor transport with nuclear waste from the former Jülich research reactor in North Rhine-Westphalia, planned for Wednesday evening, was halted due to a technical defect on the tractor unit.

What the Police Reported

The container never left the grounds of the research reactor, the Münster police announced. The vehicle and its cargo remained on the secured premises in Jülich, they added. A timely repair or a spontaneous replacement of the specialized vehicle was not possible on Wednesday evening, which is why the transport could not be carried out as planned.
