The passenger ferry "Funny Girl," measuring 68 meters in length, arrived at the port of Cuxhaven on Saturday evening at around 10:15 p.m. with 69 people on board, following an engine failure that occurred off the island of Helgoland in the North Sea.

Update of June 14, 2026: the authorities in Cuxhaven confirm that no one required medical treatment after docking, and the company Adler & Eils has announced the automatic refund of tickets already purchased for the crossings cancelled on Sunday and Monday.

The "Funny Girl" had left Büsum at around 9:30 a.m. heading for Helgoland, for a crossing that normally takes about two and a half hours. According to the Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbrüchiger (DGzRS), the alert was received at 12:45 p.m., following an engine failure that left the vessel unable to maneuver approximately five kilometers east of the destination port, NDR reports.
