The crash site is located in a predominantly rural region in the middle of the country. The municipality of Ocsová lies not far from the town of Zvolen, in whose vicinity small planes have taken off and landed in the past.

On social media and on regional news portals, images and initial eyewitness accounts from the area around Ocsová spread on Saturday. Official bodies warned against speculation and referred to the ongoing investigations.

The Slovak police announced further press releases for the coming days. The responsible aviation supervisory authority is also expected to comment on the cause of the crash once verified findings are available.
