A three-year-old boy ran onto the road in Steyr and was hit by a car. The 41-year-old US American from the Linz-Land district was driving toward the city center when the child suddenly crossed the street.

A three-year-old boy was hit by a car on Monday afternoon in Steyr and was admitted to the children's hospital in Linz after he had run onto the road.

The accident occurred on June 29, 2026 at around 4:15 p.m. in Steyr, when a 41-year-old US American from the Linz-Land district was driving his car toward the city center. At the same time, a 29-year-old woman from Steyr was on the sidewalk together with her three-year-old son. According to police, the mother had previously pressed the pedestrian button in order to cross the street safely.

Suddenly, the boy ran onto the road and was hit by the oncoming car. The 41-year-old driver could no longer prevent the collision. First responders and the alerted emergency chain immediately took care of the injured child.
