US President Donald Trump on Wednesday at the NATO summit in Ankara declared the ceasefire with Iran, which had taken effect in mid-June, null and void, while parallel military attacks by both sides heightened tensions.
Asked by a journalist about the ceasefire that had taken effect in mid-June, Trump said at the NATO summit in Ankara on Wednesday: "As far as I'm concerned, it's over." With that, the US president unilaterally declared the declaration of intent with Tehran — reached through mediation — to be terminated, and at the same time struck a harsh tone toward the Iranian leadership. "It is a complete waste of time dealing with them," Trump said further about the Iranian leadership.
