A 49-year-old woman and her son from the Slovenian town of Kranjska Gora were found dead near the Fusine Lakes, not far from Tarvis in the northern Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
Discovery in the streambed
The bodies were discovered on Monday by another hiker in the dry streambed north of the upper Fusine Lake. "They were lying about 50 meters apart," the investigators reported. A day earlier, a walker had noticed the discovery site from the air and alerted the rescue services.
According to the investigators, the woman frequently went on mountain tours together with her son. The two had set off on a hike on June 23, according to the findings – a hike that ended fatally. As the Italian news agency APA reported on Thursday, citing the authorities, drone footage supports this assumption. The dead are a 49-year-old woman and her son from the Slovenian town of Kranjska Gora.
