In the US House of Representatives, 103 of the 215 Democratic lawmakers voted for an amendment that would have stripped roughly $3.3 billion (approximately €2.9 billion) in military aid for Israel in the coming fiscal year; however, the initiative failed by a vote of 104 to 314.

The amendment was introduced as part of deliberations on the budget for the US State Department and other security agencies. As several US media outlets reported, 103 of the 215 Democratic lawmakers voted for the cut, with another ten abstaining. This marked the first time that nearly half of the Democrats in the House supported an effort to eliminate the military aid.

A corresponding amendment by Republican Representative Thomas Massie failed yesterday (local time), however, by a vote of 104 to 314. The decisive factor in its failure was the broad rejection by Republicans. Apart from Massie, no other Republican voted for the amendment.
