The environmental organization WWF has launched a vote in Austria on the "River of the Year," with five domestic rivers from four federal states up for election.
The environmental organization WWF has opened a public vote in Austria on the "River of the Year." Five rivers are in the running, each considered an important habitat for rare or endangered animal species.
The Lafnitz, a lowland river in Burgenland that provides territories for beavers and kingfishers, is nominated. From Carinthia, the Lavant is entering the race, home to rare fish species such as the souffie or the dog barbel.
