Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has formally requested the United States provide additional munitions for its Patriot air defense systems to counter intensifying Russian missile attacks.

In a letter seen by the news agency AFP and addressed to U.S. President Trump and Congress on Tuesday, Zelenskyy asked the U.S. government to help secure what he described as a vital tool for protection. "For us — for a nation fighting for its survival — there is hardly anything more painful to see than Patriot batteries with no missiles loaded," Zelenskyy wrote, according to a copy of the letter also viewed by POLITICO.

The Ukrainian leader specifically requested further shipments of PAC-3 interceptor missiles. "I ask for your help in protecting Ukraine's skies from Russian missiles," he stated in the letter.
