A 47-year-old German wingsuit flyer crashed to his death on Friday afternoon during a jump near Vättis SG, as reported by the St. Gallen Cantonal Police.

The man from Kremmen in Brandenburg started shortly after 5:00 PM in the Chüefad area at an altitude of around 2080 meters together with a 37-year-old German, as the St. Gallen Cantonal Police announced. The 47-year-old jumped first and crashed shortly after takeoff, investigators further explained. The second jumper remained unharmed, according to the information.

Rega recovered the man, who resided in Germany. As the Cantonal Police further reported, the Rega crew could only recover the deceased. Rega flew to the hard-to-access alpine area near Vättis above Bad Ragaz with a helicopter.
