A 67-year-old Austrian fell on Saturday at around 1 p.m. from a leaning aluminum ladder in Mitteldorf in the East Tyrolean municipality of Virgen and was flown by rescue helicopter with injuries of undetermined severity to Innsbruck State Hospital.

According to the Tyrol State Police Directorate, the man was picking fruit on the property of a residence in Mitteldorf at around 1 p.m. To reach the fruit, he climbed onto a leaning aluminum ladder.

Accident sequence

From a height of approximately three meters, the man suddenly lost his footing and fell backwards to the ground. His wife, who was in the immediate vicinity, immediately called the emergency number and alerted the rescue services.
