A 77-year-old car driver struck two workers carrying out road-marking work on a municipal road in Scheibbs on Thursday, leaving a 52-year-old seriously injured and a 22-year-old with minor injuries.
According to current investigations, the 77-year-old man from the Scheibbs district was driving on a municipal road in the municipality of Scheibbs-Saffen at around 1:25 p.m. in his car and failed to see the crew working on the roadway. According to police, he noticed the workers too late, resulting in the collision.
The 52-year-old worker suffered serious injuries in the impact. He was treated by the "Christophorus 15" rescue helicopter and flown to Amstetten regional hospital. No further details on his condition were initially available.
