Following the double earthquake of 24 June in northern Venezuela, the number of recovered fatalities has risen to 2,954, according to government figures, while the United Nations estimates the number of missing at up to 50,000.
State of Recovery Operations
The official death toll from the devastating double earthquake in Venezuela has risen to more than 2,900. As the government announced on Saturday, 2,954 fatalities have so far been recovered. The government provided no information on the number of those still missing.
According to United Nations estimates, however, the number of missing could be as high as 50,000. This means the actual casualty figure could be significantly higher than the deaths confirmed so far, as neither a final search nor an identification operation has been completed.
