Following the two severe earthquakes of June 24, 2026 in northern Venezuela, the number of confirmed fatalities has risen to at least 3,535, as Jorge Rodriguez announced on Monday via the platform X.

Two strong quakes shake the north

The government in Caracas stated that at least 3,535 people had lost their lives. This represents an increase of approximately 190 in the death toll compared to the previous day. At least 3,535 people died in the disaster on June 24, the Venezuelan government declared on Monday.

On June 24, two strong earthquakes struck northern Venezuela in quick succession. According to the government, the quakes reached magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5. More than a thousand weaker aftershocks followed, further worsening the situation.
