According to the Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden, 38 people died in accidents involving e-scooters in Germany in 2025, about 38 percent more than in the previous year.
The Federal Statistical Office in Wiesbaden reported a significant increase in accidents involving e-scooters in Germany. Last year, 38 people died in such accidents, the statement said. In 2024, there had been 27 deaths.
Police registered about 16,500 accidents involving e-scooters in 2025 in which people were injured or killed. That was about 38 percent more than a year earlier. The number of serious incidents has thus risen markedly within a single year.
Injured and Killed in Detail
In addition to the fatalities, around 1,900 people were seriously injured and around 16,200 people slightly injured, according to the statistics office. The injury figures underscore that e-scooters must increasingly be perceived as a risk in road traffic.
