An Amazon cargo plane crashed late on Saturday evening near Miami International Airport in Florida, killing five people and injuring five others, three of them critically.

Background of the Flight Route

The cargo plane had previously departed from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan on the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico and was en route to Miami when the accident occurred near the airport. Authorities initially did not publicly specify the exact time of the crash or the phase of flight the aircraft was in. Miami International Airport is one of Florida's busiest cargo hubs and is regularly served by cargo aircraft from major logistics companies.
