More than eleven days after a double earthquake in northern Venezuela, the official death toll has risen to 3,342, with some 16,470 people injured according to government figures, while the United Nations fears up to 50,000 missing.
On June 24, two strong earthquakes struck northern Venezuela in quick succession. The hardest-hit area was the state of La Guaira, located north of the capital Caracas. The Ministry of Information in Caracas stated that more than 3,340 people had lost their lives. In addition, 16,470 people were injured, according to the government.
The official death toll from the devastating double earthquake in Venezuela has risen to more than 3,300. So far, 3,342 fatalities have been recovered, the government announced on Sunday. Previously, around 2,900 deaths had been reported. The authorities assume more than 16,000 injured.
